Day 7 of NaNoWriMo – Yesterday was a write off!

Quite literally!

I posted a zero word count yesterday, after I had a major smash in my car coming home from work. I’m OK, but the car’s a write off.

I had a crash on a roundabout.

I was taking the third exit, and a truck followed me in the outside lane all the way around. I thought it was coming off on my exit onto the dual carriageway, as I was doing, but it continued on as I exited, and ploughed into the far side of my car.

The truck then dragged my car along with it, making it spin and crash backwards into a lamp post. I then shunted forwards, and ended up on traffic island facing the opposite way to the way I had intended to go.

I knew instantly that the car was a write off. The rear window had smashed and the side air bags had deactivated. I just remember saying over and over again, “I just don’t know what happened. I don’t understand what happened.”

That was yesterday, and although shaken still, I feel that I’ve had a lucky escape. No cliche: I’ve picked myself up, dusted myself down, and continued where I left off, in order to complete my word count for today.

I’m now on 13,279 words for the week. Phew!

How are you doing?

I’m glad you are ok! I’m also glad it didn’t put a dent in your nanowrimo writing. I have had a few days of writers block, but I decided to go back a few paragraphs and start over so now I am writing again…slowly but I will not give up 🙂

  2. Wow. Glad you are okay.
