…I’d visited abroad
What I learned from my postcard poetry series
I remember details about places that I might otherwise have forgotten.
There’s a danger when you’re touring across a continent; different places blend into one another. Especially if you visit six countries in ten days!
This moment of realisation came when my husband asked me, would I like to go back to Koblenz for the Christmas markets? I had trouble remembering Koblenz at first, and then the lines of my haiku prompted me with:
Father Rhine and Mother Moselle!
I remembered it as the city intersected by two rivers, the place which held many surprises including a steampunk Noah’s Ark fountain. I’m glad I wrote about it, as it’s imprinted the experience on my memory. And it’s made me more determined to write more, share more.
Thanks for reading! 🙂
