In January, and early February, I posted short series ‘On Friendship’. This is what I discovered:
In order to have friends, we have to be a friend
This entails listening, as well as talking, and trusting other people enough to be able to share your life with them. In my previous post, I mentioned that I try not to let past bad experiences change my attitude, and this is also true with friendship. It can be hard to trust if you’ve had bad experiences, especially if you don’t fully understand what went wrong.
In life, I have tended to be an observer. Through creative writing, however, I have learned to take part, to share, and not be afraid to be vulnerable. Through sharing I have gained something that was missing from my life for many years:
A real sense of belonging
Thanks for reading.
