Reasons to be Thankful – Part Two

I’m thankful for friends who not only accept me for who I am, but who also challenge me to be be more myself. They care enough to shoulder my problems, and don’t just want to share the best, brightest moments of my life. That’s amazing. Always, I hope to return the favour.

There’s a lot of people these days, who seem to think that, in order to be positive, they have to gloss over anything bad that happens in their lives. To me, this isn’t demonstrating a positive attitude, but simply denial. True positivity is when you confront the obstacles in your life, and deal with them constructively. That’s what’s really inspiring.

Particularly, I’d like to thank friends who’ve challenged me to be more open emotionally, to be braver in my creativity, which in turn has allowed me to write more authentically. I hope I never take you for granted.

This quote sums up my philosophy for life:

“God give me the strength to accept the things I cannot change,

the courage to change the things I can,

and the wisdom to know the difference.”

The power of this message transcends religion, and speaks to everyone, regardless of culture and background.

Furthermore, this is my personal mantra: “I will face every obstacle in my life with a song in my heart”; that’s my plan!

Sorry, this is posted a little later than planned. I’d love to know other people’s comments on friendship.
